Hunt’s accept award for Family Business of the Year at the Dorset Business Awards 2015

Family Business of the Year

Hunt’s Foodservice Ltd was awarded with Family Business of the Year at the recent Dorset Business Awards. Hunt’s were one of three finalists for this award category and this event was organised by Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).

Passed down five generations of the Hunt’s family, Hunt’s Foodservice Ltd operates a unique business in the heart of Sherborne. Five family members are directly involved with the business today which has grown to be arguably the biggest independent wholesaler in the South West. Throughout its evolution, Hunt’s have stood by their family values and heritage, firmly believing that employees are part of the family and Sherborne part of its heritage.

Richard Hunt, Managing Director of Hunt’s Foodservice collected the award at the gala dinner ceremony and comments “My aunt, who is 95 is our company chairman and has been with the business all of her working life. She is very excited to have won the award and I am delighted that our heritage has been recognised at such a prestigious event. Most importantly however, I would like to thank our 400 loyal employees who have helped make the business a success throughout the years.”

The Dorset Business Awards included 10 other categories and the DCCI received over 139 entries. It was the role of the award sponsors to select and interview the entries to shortlist three finalists. The Family Business of the Year award was sponsored by Princecroft Willis.

Judge Nick Love, Head of Family Business at Princecroft Willis, says: “This family company has its roots firmly in Sherborne. Family members have played key roles in the business throughout its history and today, five of the family are actively involved in the day-to-day operations and are not afraid to get stuck in to any area of the business when needed. This really is a success story and a worthy winner of the 2015 Princecroft Willis Family Business Award.”
